This examination is like a Common Written Examination (CWE) for Public Sector General Insurance Companies at Officer Level. The four insurance companies are : 1. National Insurance 2. Oriental Insurance 3. New India Assurance 4. United India Assurance Q. What are the posts for which vacancies have been advertised? Ans. There are two types of posts : 1. Generalist Officers ( like Bank Probationary Officers) 2. Specialist Officers ( like Bank Specialist Officers) Q. What is the role of National Insurance Company? Ans. National Insurance Company is organizing and conducting the examination on behalf of all the Insurance companies. It will handle all the administrative modalities for conducting the examination. So unlike popular perception this is not an examination for National Insurance Company Limited (NICL). Q. What is the job profile of an Administrative Officer? If you are a banking aspirant and do not have 60% in graduation or are over 28 years of age (but under 30 years), then you should not miss a chance to give this examination. Q. I am eligible for both Generalist and Specialist profile what post should I Apply for ? Ans. Ideally you should apply for Generalist Officer if you have no prior work experience, because: - as per pt. b) on Page 3 of the notification “Preference will be given to the candidates having post qualification experience in their area of specialization.” • So if you have prior work experience in your area of specialization you should opt for Specialist Officer profile otherwise go for a Generalist profile as there are fewer vacancies in Specialist Officer profiles. • Also since this is the first time such an examination is being conducted, there is no clarity in terms of the types of questions which can come from the areas of specialization, since question types and previous papers for the Generalist profile are widely available , it will be easier for you to prepare for the examination. • However, if you are keen on pursuing your area of specialization then you should opt for a Specialist profile regardless of work experience. • However you should note that in most cases it is the Generalists who can go on to become the head of the Company, because he has exposure to various fields.
