Ideally you should apply for Generalist Officer if you have no prior work experience, because: - as per pt. b) on Page 3 of the notification “Preference will be given to the candidates having post qualification experience in their area of specialization.” • So if you have prior work experience in your area of specialization you should opt for Specialist Officer profile otherwise go for a Generalist profile as there are fewer vacancies in Specialist Officer profiles. • Also since this is the first time such an examination is being conducted, there is no clarity in terms of the types of questions which can come from the areas of specialization, since question types and previous papers for the Generalist profile are widely available , it will be easier for you to prepare for the examination. • However, if you are keen on pursuing your area of specialization then you should opt for a Specialist profile regardless of work experience. • However you should note that in most cases it is the Generalists who can go on to become the head of the Company, because he has exposure to various fields.
