General thoughts on the 3DS now that Ive taken the time to - TopicsExpress

General thoughts on the 3DS now that Ive taken the time to actually fiddle with it: - All the menus are actually quite nice. - Friend codes are still an unnecessarily complicated way of connecting with other users but at least there is exactly one Friend Code now rather than a different code for each individual game, as with the Wii. Usernames and user -accounts- would have been much easier, which leads me to my next point. - Im incredibly reluctant to do much in the way of online-purchasing and eShop stuff with my 3DS because everything ties to the individual 3DS system rather than an online user account as with Xbox Live or PlayStation Network. While its true that there is a transfer-system-data function in there that will link purchases to a replacement system, if one needs to replace a handheld system, theres a good chance its either inoperable or lost, taking the purchases linked to that system along with it. As for gaming comfort, I tend to prefer a wider system when it comes to my hands--the 3DS and DS keep my hands a bit too close together, as did the original GBA (trying to play comfortably on a GBA SP was, frankly, a nightmare). The upper screen, the main gameplay screen in most cases, is somewhat larger than a DS screen, which I appreciate, although I still intend to get an XL model down the line when my budget allows for frivolous spending, purely for the larger screens.
