“Generally speaking, the most miserable people I know are those who are obsessed with themselves; the happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others...By and large, I have come to see that if we complain about life, it is because we are thinking only of ourselves.” ― Gordon B. Hinckley Someone posted an article from Psychology Today suggesting "killing the ego". You know, the old pseudo-religious rubbish now rehashed as pseudo-science. Spending time trying to "kill the ego" is just more self-obsession and goes nowhere. This quote bespeaks the truth of how the ego is correctly brought into service and thereby gives over its power to service and loses its power to make us self-obsess.
