Genesis chapter 21(By sister Amantle). Good morning - TopicsExpress

Genesis chapter 21(By sister Amantle). Good morning brothers n sisters. Im about to start sharing on Genesis 21. I hope u have your bibles with you.... Before I start sharing though, I have a testimony. A while ago I went to church (HP-Parktown) n the pastor spoke about prayer n trusting that the Lord will answer our prayers. He told us to write down the things wed like to receive n paste on the wall. He encouraged us to praise God that He is going to deliver. When I got to res I wrote down the stuff I wanted. Im glad to share that He blessed me with all the things that were on the list . . Genesis 21:1-7- The Birth of Isaac. What stood out for me was the first few verses where it states that the Lord kept His word n did what He promised at the time He knew was best. I believe that this is to encourage us to trust in the Lord, to be patient n believe that He will do what He promises to do n trust that His timing is perfect. . Abraham named the child Isaac which means laughter. I looked it up and learnt that he was named Isaac (laughter) because not only did he bring joy to Abraham n Sarah but when Sarah received word that she would give birth to a child in her old age she laughed as she did not think it was possible. So from this we see that very often we are so focused on the problem, we find hard to focus on Gods greatness. So when Isaac was born Sarah laughed out joy n shame as she realizes she doubted the Lord who is ABLE. V8-20- When Sarah asked that Hagar n Ishmael be sent away. This now also touches on trusting God n His timing. Sarah out of desperation in the earlier chapter wanted something so bad, she acted on it when it was not her season n now she faces the consequences of not being patient before the Lord- Yes God is merciful, but there are consequences for the choices we make. . . Then it was Hagar who was in distress because she had no water for the little boy n thought that he would die. Again God shows us that He can do the impossible n He is our provider. So keep your focus on God n trust that he is ABLE. V 22-34. The covenant between Abraham n Abimelech- I believe this was put @ the end to seal off the theme of this chapter -Trusting the promises of the Lord n realizing that He is able. In verse 22, Abimelech says to Abraham : God is obviously with you, helping u in everything you do.... When God blesses you, people around you can see - All things are created by Him, For Him. He blesses you so that others can identify Him. We are vessels. We are the salt and the light.... The covenant between Abraham n Abimelech, I think symbolizes the promises God makes to us, that we should trust Him n know that His word is so. Amen. . . Thank you sister Amantle..may God increasingly Bless and be with u..
