Get Ready to Rumble! It’s Octopurr, and here at Friends For Life we are celebrating National Feral Cat Day (October 16th) ALL MONTH LONG with a gato y gato smackdown! This clash of the ex-feral titans pits Rocky against Buddy as Team Rocky vs Team Buddy to see whose fans can raise the most for our Fix Houston program. All month, our resident shelter mascot ex-ferals, Buddy and Rocky will be squaring off to see who can generate the most support for our revolutionary Fix Houston trap/neuter/return program! This program has already prevented 5,000 cat births in Houston by providing free spay/neuter surgeries for community cats! That’s right sports fans – all month long you’ll be able to donate (surgeries, traps, food, supplies, money, etc.) in the name of your favorite FFL shelter mascot. How to vote Team Rock or Team Bud? 1. Bring by a donation of cat food or supplies from our wish list and drop them into the bins in our lobby clearly marked for each team. We will tally. 2. Make an online donation and put Team Rocky or Team Buddy in the notes! Each team would love to reach a goal of $2500 to fund an entire cat surgery day! They have agreed that the one hitting the $2500 mark first can force the other to be photographed in a costume of the winners choosing. 3. Come by the shelter and drop a little currency in either the Team Rocky or Team Buddy designated donation box in the lobby. 4. We will be holding special timed giving challenges to make the boys really work for a win. So stay tuned! The guys say they have some fun surprises up their sleeves. We told them they dont have sleeves. They said they dont have strippers either but this IS a fundraiser. Let us just start off by apologizing for them right off the bat. We really dont know whats going to happen and this was probably ill-advised. They have each engaged a photographer to to follow the other. We are deeply concerned, but frankly, its probably going to be worth watching. October 31st we’ll do a final count and the new King of Friends For Life will be crowned.
