Get ready!! My November article is officially published in Indigo Sun Magazine! :) Ive posted it below for those who may not get around to getting the magazine or even know what it is ^_^ Have you forgotten what your playful heart looks and feels like? If the answer is yes rest assured that all hope is NOT lost. Your animal(s) have your best interests at heart and are always speaking to you, helping to guide you back to that place. The ways in which they speak are so creative that they can often be mistaken as out of the ordinary behaviors or illnesses. If you are suffering your animals are sure to reflect it through some form of behavior, illness, or injury. As fall starts to set in and nature continues to slow down and prepare for winter you continue to speed up, meet deadlines, and run yourself ragged with to-do lists. The faster you go, the more you pile on your plate, saying yes when you mean NO, no when you mean YES, and suffering as a result. When your body suffers it gets sick, when your emotions suffer they get overwhelmed, and when your mind suffers it gets overworked. Eventually, you are no longer able to function emotionally mentally or physically. This is why you and your animals may experience allergies and illnesses during the fall season or during an exceptionally stressful time. Your animals have come here to facilitate the healing of all the parts of yourself that need love and to help you feel less alone in your pain. You, like most people, need cute, furry, cuddly, and non-judgmental versions of your less desirable selves to come in so that you will give them the love and attention that they need. Your animals come in as all the parts of yourself you don’t want to face, are in denial of, or are unaware of because it’s hard for you to face them on your own. For instance, let’s imagine that Jane is having a really hard time at work. She’s stressed, trying to meet deadlines, having conflicts with a co-worker, and is just fed up in general. She really wants to communicate her innovative ideas and thoughts to her boss, but doesn’t want to rock the boat. She comes home exhausted and goes to pop a T.V. dinner in the microwave before zoning out on her favorite show. After about 10 minutes, her dog Sophie comes over and starts nudging her leg, staring at her, and whining. Jane gets frustrated and turns the T.V. up because after all, she can’t take another ‘demand’ on her time. What Jane doesn’t know is that Sophie is trying to get Jane to spend time with her, love on her, take her for a long walk. Sophie is the side of Jane that is sweet, open, and extremely nurturing so when Sophie is nudging her mom she is representing the side of Jane that needs to take care of herself. Let’s face it, as relaxing as it sounds, a T.V. dinner and a dramatic television show does not constitute as self care. Sophie knows that if her mom would start taking longer walks and spending more time doing things that open her heart she would be less stressed and tense during her day. Jane continues to fume at work and comes home to the same routine, but one evening she comes home and notices that Sophie doesn’t look good. She’s not herself, seems lethargic, and under the weather. Jane spends the evening taking care of Sophie and worrying about her. The next day, she takes a half a day off work in order to take Sophie to the vet. She got medicine and she seemed to get better over the course of a week. Jane’s routine changed after Sophie got sick. Now, she comes home, gives Sophie her medicine, and spends some time with her. If Sophie hadn’t gotten sick, Jane would’ve continued doing things that weren’t serving her highest good. Of course you’re still going to do things you want to do even when you know you should probably go to bed early, take a bath, or put the phone down. How your animal conveys their message to you depends on their personality, your personality, and what they have come here to help you with. If you are incredibly stubborn, your animal might choose an obnoxious behavior to get your attention because nothing else has worked. If you are a ‘door mat’ your animals might choose a behavior that will invoke your inner strength and power to make a firm decision. Your animals will do whatever it takes to get the message through to you and in the ways that will reap the greatest blessings for you AND all concerned. Your animals are here for YOU. They want what is best for you even when you don’t know what that looks or feels like. Something that comes up a lot is the idea that they must be ‘suffering’ BECAUSE of what you’re going through and I want you to know that is FAR from the truth. Your animals came here FULLY equipped for their mission with you- the good, the bad, and the ugly. In their eyes, none of their experience with or for us is seen in terms of suffering, it is all seen in terms of blessings. Your animals have come into your life to remind you of your beauty, your humor, your playful spirit, your strength, your love, and the very reason you came to this planet. Every part of what your animals do is a direct reflection of your own experiences, emotional process, and life journey. You, like many others, get so out of tune sometimes that you forget who you are, what you want, and WHY you are doing the things you’re doing. Your animals are here to pull you back to center reconnect you to all the things you’ve lost touch with.
