Sadly some people (including dog whistling politicians) living safely here in Australia are unable to empathise with the plight of asylum seekers and refugees. Perhaps the latest "PNG solution" demonstrates that as a society, we have not progressed very far since "convict" transportation from Britain led to the establishment in 1788 of the penal colonies in Australia. Perhaps this latest "PNG solution" could be described as officially sanctioned people trafficking? What do you think???
