Gettin Hitched... When a team of horses were hitched to a wagon or plow, they knew they were expected to share equally in the responsibility of pulling the load. Getting hitched, the expression meaning getting married, though used humorously, is nevertheless an appropriate metaphor... For marriage meant that the young man and woman were binding themselves together to share in the load of a life time of responsibilities and labor to build a home, raise a family and do their part in the community. Sometimes one would pull more of the load than the other, sometimes one will bite or snap at the other, or complain. But they stay together, crossing one mountain after another. You dont see many teams of horses anymore, not like we used to... Folks nowdays dont seem to stay hitched together as long as they used to. Easier ways of doing things, Harder times and such have good teams working seperately and just not spending enough time together. I`m proud to say that I have been Hitched for 44 years... We have crossed many a mountain together that I couldnt of made it over alone. Im glad she has been there to help me with my load, Thank God... and if I had it to do over... I`d Get Hitched again to the same little filly. :)
