Getting ready for Friday Night! This could possibly be the Game of the Season!!! This week we host Junction City. If you use the age of our current High School we have been playing these guys since 1973!! This will be the 41st Battle of the Valley between Elmira and Junction City. This game has always had a special place in my heart. In the 1981 game (after losing to the Tigers for 10 years in a row) the headline in the Register Guard read... Vestal boots Tigers out of the Playoffs! On that rainy night the Football Gods smiled upon us with a 10-7 victory. During this rivalry Junction City has dominated the Falcons... BUT over the last 10 years the battle is tied at 5-5. With My Falcons riding a 4 game win streak against the Tigers. Last season (Devins very first Varsity game) he made his very first Varsity career extra point on the same uprights that I kicked the winning field goal! Coincidence?? We won that game 35-8. Also in that game I saw one of the best runs EVER! And that young man will be playing his first game of the 2014 season on Friday!!! This is going to be a good one! Hope to see you ALL in the stands!!! Go Falcons!!!
