Getting warpaint applied for each Darklight show has become a - TopicsExpress

Getting warpaint applied for each Darklight show has become a spiritual experience for me. The whole thing started as my way of recognizing Native American culture, of which I have always highly admired and researched at great length. Now putting on warpaint I have noticed is as much mental and psychological preparation as it is physical. The process is long, and gives me much reflection time. It reminds me of so many convenient hypocrisies about our government that are so easy for most of us to ignore. It reminds me that in a sense, I am going into battle. Not a battle with other bands, or any person, but a battle with myself. A battle to meet the stressful demands of the day and to perform the best I possibly can on stage. A battle to push myself to the limits. A battle to recognize how important it is to appreciate the efforts of the people around me. The Darklight transformation isnt a gimmick. It is an extension of our own souls and our way to artistically express ourselves to an audience on stage. To challenge the normal mode of thinking not just by our music, but by our personalities and how we present it. We believe each live show experience should be as much an experience for ourselves as it is for our audience. I dont wear the warpaint to get attention. I dont wear the warpaint to impress other people. I wear the warpaint because it means something to me. As does the culture that brought it about. I am tremendously excited to see those of you who are coming out to rock with us tonight! Thanks and have a super fun awesome and safe weekend. --- LB anthropologylover.wordpress/2013/02/09/native-american-face-paint-customs-colors-designs/
