Ghana has relied on hydro power energy since independence..as our population and our and economy grows ..we had a large deficit between supply and demand of electricity...The NDC 1&2 instituted a thermal plant energy production program to take care of the deficit...the program was to add 220 mega watts of power pa...so when the npp took over power in 2001 they stop the program by adopting the HIPC initiative....so by calculation the npp must add about 1700 mega watts of installed capacity...when the NDC took over power 2009...we were confronted with this huge deficit ... what we have done and continue to do is to close the gab and create a surplus so that in case there is break down of any of the plants we can substitute it with the surplus to guarantee constant supply.....our problem now is effective com by the service providers about the time lines for ending the domsor domsor...this how it started
