Making my cup of coffee this morning was sad. The spot on our counter where Jacques lived is just so empty without him. 😪😪😪 We lost our grandfish yesterday and are so sad. Yes, I know its a fish, but he was a great fish. No, we couldnt pet him, and he didnt fetch a ball or purr, so how can someone become so attached to a fish, you wonder? First, he shared our love travel as he was a traveling fish. He made more trips back and forth with Taylor to/from UTSA/Magnolia this year and did great in the car! Secondly, his bowl was right by the coffee pot so every morning while we waited for our coffee to brew, we talked. Jacques would come swimming up to the front of the bowl, wiggle his cute fins so fast which made his entire body wiggle with excitement. He was saying good morning in fish speak. When I would return home from traveling, as soon as hed hear my voice in the house, hed perk up and start swimming to the front of his bowl, wiggling and looking for me. Hed blow bubbles for us. Even Joe got attached. And of course, Taylor loved her fish even more than we did. Jacques was a good companion at UTSA for her. Although the rules were no pets, she smuggled him in dorm. He was a good fish, never giving himself away and never got busted! Many a nights he sat at her desk and kept her company thru countless art projects. Jacques was named after the character in Les Mis so he had big fins to fill to live up to that name, and he did. He was a great companion. May he fondly forever swim in the memories of our hearts. A private committal was held on Sunday afternoon. Jacque was probably 3 years old.
