Ghana has suspended its issuing of new gold prospecting permits, - TopicsExpress

Ghana has suspended its issuing of new gold prospecting permits, while it carries out an audit of existing-licence to free-up unused concessions for potential investors. The countrys Minerals Commission says that an initial 90 day freeze on new prospecting permits will be imposed. Ghana is Africas second-biggest gold-producer after South Africa. The country was hit hard in 2013, by a global slump in gold-prices. The West African State produced 122 tonnes of gold in 2013, down 0.7% from the previous year.
