Ghazal #3: Why do you despise and mock me from on high? O, such lamentation. The harlots are all gone, and I am with you here. O, such lamentation. You have fallen out of grace with young succulents and are ignored. Even in your presence, they do not lure nor care. O, such lamentation. Lust and seduction have fled, and they will not return until midnight. It is morning; the sun is shining, and dew tears. O, such lamentation. The gates have been shut and padlocked; even the eunuchs slumber, While I wait for protection from evil‘s intent leer. O, such lamentation. I will not leave until I extract what I have come for; you must submit. At the gate, I shall stand, until beckoned, appear. O, such lamentation. Gods cannot bear how much I love you, and punishment is gruesome. The covenant was broken, not forgiven the fare. O, such lamentation. The bottle of absinthe lies empty; its damage done; the pipe is hollow. Still, I am scorned, and through your window peer. O, such lamentation. Look, the opium; your friend has absconded and taken morphine along. We are quite awake, without mirrors; still not near. O, such lamentation. You have fallen out of grace with young succulents and are ignored. Even in their presence, they do not lure, nor care. O, such lamentation. The best hues of purple, indigo, crimson; and glitters of gold adorn you. No permission to enter, to touch; forbidden, dear. O, such lamentation. I, here on the floor, while feathers, candied silk, satin hold and serenade Your body; yet, no indulgence; I may only stare. O, such lamentation. A dungeon has been architected in Elysium to dwell. Will you come? Our shrine awaits. Why do you ponder and sneer? O, such lamentation. © jcv 2014 Google Image by Piccolaria
