Gianluigi Buffon is an Italian football goalkeeper who currently serves as captain for both Serie A club Juventus and the Italian national team. Gianluigi began his career in soccer with the youth system of Parma at the age of 14. He graduated from the youth squad at the age of 17 and went on to make his Serie A debut for Parma. Gianluigi contributed to many wins for Serie A, winning his first UEFA Cup and the Coppa Italia during his fourth season. In 2001, Gianluigi was traded to Juventus for a world record-breaking fee of 100 billion lire.In 2012, Gianluigi earned his first trophy as the new captain of Juventus. Gianluigi has also played with the Italian national team since 1996, winning the FIFA World Cup in 2006. He has since won a myriad of honors and awards, including being named the Best European Goalkeeper in 2003 and Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year nine times from 1999 until 2012. Gianluigi married his wife, Czech model Alena Seredova, in June 2011. He has two sons.
