Giggs hails United’s brightest young starlet Ryan Giggs is full of praise for 18 year old Adnan Januzaj Following a standout performance in Manchester United’s surprising 1-0 friendly defeat against the Singha All Star XI, club legend Ryan Giggs singled out 18 year old midfielder Adnan Januzaj for praise. The Belgian midfielder was one of the few bright spots in David Moyes’s first match as United boss, as the rest of the squad looked lethargic and slow as they slumped to defeat in their first preseason match. “I am excited. Adnan did well – he looks a really good prospect,” Giggs told reporters after Saturday’s friendly, according to The Guardian. “He has trained with us quite a bit in pre-season and did well again. Now it is just about having that experience and learning from the older players and doing what he does best. You don’t want to get ahead of yourself. He is only young.” Giggs has recently switched from the club’s most senior player to the club’s only player- coach. The Welsh winger has taken up a coaching role within Moyes’s new coaching staff, joining former teammate Phil Neville as a first team coach. At 39 years old Giggs is still in fantastic shape, and is expected to once again play a role for the Red Devils this season. If he can get on the scoresheet then he’ll have scored in every single Premier League season. Januzaj, meanwhile, will be hoping to make an impression in the first team this season, having been named among the substitutes for Sir Alex Ferguson’s last match in charge last season. The 18 year old is currently United’s best youth product, and will hope to have a chance after seeing the club miss out on the signing of Thiago Alcantara.
