Ginos Blind Tiger - Tuesday September 24, 2014 I had 36 players come out to Ginos tonight to play some poker. Big thanks to my dealers: Ashleigh Pursell, Stephen Henderson, Justice, and Darnez Howard. We started out with 29 players at the starting gun and quickly expanded to a fourth table as a few stragglers came in. Darnez started dealing the kids table with Alex Britman and Huluka Abebe at the table. I warned and apologized to each and every player who drew the unfortunate card to sit with them and their wild playing ways. Huluka had amassed a big stack after taking a lot of Darnezs chips (Darnez was ahead pre-flop), Darnez then proffered a bet that he would not make the top 5. Would he be right? At the first break we had lost 4 players, and we had 21 left at the second break. Once we started after the second break we lost 3 players between two tables to take us not only to the final 2 tables, but also to get us into points! Once we were in points, players continued to go out at a steady pace. We started final table at 1000/2000 and had a half the blind level left before we moved up to 2000/4000. We managed not to lose a single player until blinds went up. Carol shoved in the first hand when blinds went up for her last 3000 with pocket kings and but an AK ended up taking her out with an ace on the board. Jeannine Ball and Megan Sawchuk both got taken out in one hand bringing us to 6. Bruce Temkin finally took the 5th place position when he asked me the table to end his misery as he watched his chip stack get whittled away and called Branden Zimmermans all-in with 34 to Brandens A5. He managed a 4 on the flop, but a pair of kings and queens on the board counterfeited him and ended his night with his chips going into Brandens stack. 5-handed, The Duchess flopped a top pair of 8s and had a club flush draw with her 10/8 of clubs. She pushed all-in happy with her chances and Herb called with his 86 which had flopped two pair. No 10 or club would come to save the Duchess this night, and she ended up in 5th place. Once we got to 4-handed, nobody went out until we got to the 8-chip/4-chip level as they all seemed content to play conservatively. Chip stacks moved up and down, one highlight was Herb shoving all in with J10 with nothing but a runner-runner straight draw on the paired flop against Stephens pocket aces. A 10 came on the turn and the TD then said, only another one of those will save you. Yeah verily, a third 10 came on the river and Herb sat down amazed at his fortunes. It wasnt meant to last long though as the blinds kept doing their damage and Herb still ended up going out next. Stephen was definitely short stacked early on when we were 4 handed when he was forced all in in the big blind with 6 chips and Herb had reluctantly called with his 92 without success. This led Stephen to a nice run where he got to get in some nice wall-building exercises, but Branden turned out to be the wall-breaker this night. That set us up with a heads up battle between Branden and Shaan Kalwani who had come to play his very first APC tournament today! They went back and forth a couple times and a chop was briefly discussed, but both seemed content to play for the entire prize. Branden managed one double up early, but a couple raises from Shaan gave him back the chip lead. Then Branden decided to shove with his ace and Shaan gave it a F*** it, I call with Q6. I informed him that that is a classic statement which results in the worst hand coming out to win. Sure enough, history would repeat it self as we watched one queen come on the flop and a trip queen appearing on the river. Congrats Shaan on your win and welcome to the APC in a big way! Your final table: 10. Carol Tibbles 9. T Hall 8. Jeannine Ball 7. Megan Sawchuk 6. Bruce Temkin 5. The Duchess 4. Herb Woollry 3. Stephen Henderson 2. Branden Zimmerman 1. Shaan Kalwani (Notice: Huluka didnt even make it to the final table. The Duchess took him out with pocket 9s when she shoved and he had to call with his gut shot straight draw that needed... a 9.)
