Girls soccer No. 12 Epping 2 No. 5 Moultonborough 1 MOULTONBOROUGH — Despite fielding just nine players, No. 12 Epping upset No. 5 Moultonborough on penalty kicks in the Division IV quarterfinals. After a Gwen Fifield goal gave Moultonborough (11-5-1) a 1-0 lead, Epping eighth-grader Evelyn Carleton lofted a shot from 40 yards out to tie the game. Carleton also scored on the winning penalty kick. Epping (8-9) will face fourth-seeded Newmarket on Saturday. Weve had a bunch of injuries, said Epping coach Rick Morgan. Girls havent been cleared to play, so we were playing a couple girls down, but the ones we had did great. He credited goalie Kayla MacLeod, who had a pair of big saves in penalty kicks, and Sabrina Rivers, with strong games. All nine kids were warriors, Morgan said. They all played well.
