Gita 4.18. . .(11) Thus, Sri Krishna speaks of DETACHMENT, which is the central theme of the Gita teaching on work. That this little ego centered in my organic system is not my true self. I AM SOMETHING INFINITE, SPIRITUALLY ONE WITH ALL. That knowledge must come slowly. Then you get a tremendous sense of detachment. So much of cushioning effect of the pressures from the world you get that way. Just like two railway coaches, which has a spring action. You dont feel a jerk thereby. So, in the mind, we have plenty of space behind. We can always find space so that no shock will reach us. THE DEEPEST IS THE ATMAN (आत्मा). So, a little closer towards it you feel, you can do work better. More work, less tiresome, less tension. This is a great teaching for all people, because all of us have to work to earn our living and to discharge our social responsibilities. So, this philosophy is meant for all, especially today when work has become such an important factor of human development and welfare. Source: Universal Message of the Bhagavad-Gita, Pub.
