Give 10% To God Make your 10% to God your first expense (1 Corinthians 16:2). The moment you receive your salary, set 10% aside and give it to the Lord. Believe me, if you wont make it your first expense, youll never be able to do it. Some people say, I cant tithe now. Perhaps when my income gets bigger…” Some will even add, Bo, Ill give half of my Lotto winnings when I win the P100 million prize. Im giving P50 million to the Lord. Thats a promise!” But I tell them, If you cant give your P50 now, you wont be able to give your P50 million tomorrow.” Because he whos faithful in small things will be faithful in big things, but he who isnt faithful in small things wont be faithful in big things. Why do we give 10% to God? Because you want to love Him with your wealth. And you want to be blessed beyond your wildest dreams. Why do you get blessed? Thats just how the universe is rigged. You reap what you sow. Youll end up receiving far more than what you have given to God. Heres another thing. Ive had the pleasure of reading secular books on personal finance. Somewhere in the last chapters of these books, I discover something fascinating: These secular authors recommend tithing! I couldnt believe it. No, they dont tell you to do it because you need to obey God. They tell their readers to tithe because it creates an abundance mentality and delivers them from scarcity mentality—a very critical step to being financially successful. Judith Briles says, To tithe is to trust. It is to acknowledge that God will provide, that God will protect. When you give to God you create an investment in your own spirituality, your community, your family, and your faith. Whens your next payday? Have a tithe envelope ready. Make a decision where God wants you to give. Its important to support the church or community where you get spiritually nourished—so that they can continue to minister to you and your family.
