Monsoon season is here, in case you haven’t noticed via Facebook with all the pictorials. As a homeowner, or even as a renter there are many things that you need to do rather than make daily posts about the crazy weather. Some important tips to think about when protecting your investment: *Make sure you check your homeowner’s policy- many policies don’t include storm damage, or flooding. In Arizona it’s important that you review your policy and add on storm damage. *Protect and secure any outdoor mobile materials- this would include your heaters, garbage cans, fixtures, dog houses, furniture, etc. These objects could not get damaged but they can damage your home or animals if they are outside. *Stake and prune your trees- I’m sure you’ve seen numerous trees down after the monsoon hits, a good way to protect your own trees is to make sure they are not overgrown and if they are not mature trees, make sure they are staked in the ground. This will prevent them from growing in wrong (roots) and from being blown away, again causing possible damage to your home and your animals. *Use surge protectors- Many people forget that the monsoons can cause power outages, although it’s not common every time a storm hits, the more sever the storms come in, the more likely electrical surges or outages will occur. Go to your local electronic store and buy surge protectors, while you there get a flashlight and extra batteries as well. Do you have any suggestions based off your experience that you can add?
