Given all of the support you have given me I feel it important to reiterate what drives me and my family to engage in this fight, even when the odds appear to be stacked against us. From the 30,000 foot view, I found the core problem in DC to be weakness & pride. I watched many shuffle through the door with a set of principles, only to violate those principles at the drop off of a hat when a difficult choice presented itself. I cannot express to you adequately in words the power and allure of being part of the insider club in DC. White House Christmas Parties, trips on Air Force One, and the feeling of belonging while in the midst of the cocktail party crowd has near magical qualities for those susceptible to the "magic" of pride and hubris. Many of my campaign platforms are based in my Austrian School economic ideology but they also have deep roots in the empowerment of individuals, not insiders & power-brokers. For example, I strongly support the simplification of our burdensome tax code and a move towards the many consumption based models available, not only due to its profound growth effects but also due to the inability of "rent-seekers" to be granted favors in this type of system. Also, I strongly support the replacement of Obamacare with a patient-centered healthcare reform package. I passionately fight against Obamacare because it empowers bureaucratic boards such as the IPAB, MedPAC, & PST and disempowers you. Bureaucratic boards with this type of tremendous power are a recipe for corruption & insider dealings. History does not lie. I pledge to you a relentless pursuit of reform because it is the fuel that feeds me. I have seen the damage done by the current system & I know we can do better.
