Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the horrific tornado which tore through Washington, Gifford, and Roanoke area farms, as well as many other areas of Central Illinois. I had an up close and personal confrontation at our farm near Towanda where a wind shear was so severe...discarded Hickory Nuts were slammed against the sheltering garage sounding like a machine gun. We lost a very large tree which was broken off and tossed aside. But this pales in the shadow of what had already occured in Washington, Gifford, and Roanoke. A relative, Brandon Bachman who farms outside Roanoke, held his family tightly in his grasp in their basement while the twister pillaged the roof of his home, two machine sheds, their contents including tractors and other farm implement equipment. As is typical in a crisis many came to lend him assistance. His Grandfather and Grandmother offered a home cooked meal for the Bachmans and farm neighbors who gave aid.
