Giving in and posting the 5 things since Ive been solicited: 1. My dad was over 20 years older than my mom, which makes for some interesting scenarios like my grandfather served in WWI and my first cousins are all in their 50s and 60s. A lot of the songs I learned as a small child are from the 20s. 2. I always burn grilled sandwiches. Cannot be trusted with anything thats baked either because the waiting makes me forget that Im cooking. 3. Im a huge genealogy and local history nerd. I think its so interesting how individual people were affected by history, and how their stories were part of the bigger one. My GGGgrandfather was captured and sent to Elmira Prison Camp during the Civil war. Thats the Andersonville of the North. He lived, but the other two family members in prison died. I just cant imagine how devastating that would be. You go see everyone shot up and get shot at (and have to shoot others), go freeze and starve in prison, everyone dies, and you get home and theyve burnt down the whole town, and you have $5 in Confederate money to your name. Its much more dramatic when youre searching and discover this piece by piece. 4. I think a lot of raw veggies are bad for you. I dont believe in raw kale, broccoli, or zucchini. I also think butter is good for you. I know everyone thinks Im crazy. Oh and seedless watermelons and cucumber seeds are bad too. 5. I am an 8th generation Floridian. I think those early pioneers either had done something really bad and had to flee, or were just hardcore and crazy to come here before screens, refrigeration, and running water. That being said, these are the people I come from.
