Giza has its pyramids, Thorndale has its cotton gins. I remember - TopicsExpress

Giza has its pyramids, Thorndale has its cotton gins. I remember walking home from school when the gins were in full production. Burlap covered bales stacked high, trailers of cotton waiting to be ginned. There was a mountain of cotton seed that grew bigger and bigger with each passing day. The gins are quiet now--theres a new one down the road in Thrall and the smaller bales have been replaced with huge, long bales that sit in the grass, uncovered, rain or shine. I need to go by there sometime and take a picture. Maybe it will help me get used to seeing them. Thorndale, Milam County September 6, 2014
