Glasgow has been a mixed bag. Lovely people, and I really love seeing my work friends from Europe, but I could not be more ready to come home to San Francisco, for 4 reasons: 1. Scotland is a country in culinary crisis. Food is very important to me, and I’ve experienced this level of dissatisfaction with food while traveling only once before. Just tonight, my burger at a very nice eatery was charred beyond recognition, because ground beef here must be cooked at least until well done. (Mad cow!) Dont get me started on black pudding or haggis... 2. I forgot my clippers, which is problematic for a furry baldy like me. Scott will need to take me out in the back yard and sheer me like a wild beast, as I’m completely unkempt and overgrown. 3. The bandwidth at this hotel was appropriate for a kindergarten class. Seriously, I went on a business trip to Africa in 2000 (that was before Facebook, and Google was not even 2 years old), and I had better bandwidth and functionality in that hotel. Same situation with most all my co-workers. I got about half as much work done as I could have otherwise. 4. “Feelings” are front and center in my life now. This was a really bad time for a week away. Need to be home with my sweetheart and the two dogs. I need them right now.
