Go ON Manchester Web Wednesdays – volunteers needed As part of the Digital Manchester strategy, Manchester needs to support those who need digital skills to access the internet. The Go ON Manchester campaign is encouraging residents and businesses to learn more about the internet and the opportunities it brings. We now need volunteers to host digital drop-in sessions across north Manchester to help spread the digital message, help with queries about the internet, and tell people about free courses near them. Questions we are commonly asked are things such as ‘how do I use social media?’, ‘how can I use tools like Skype to interact with friends and family?’. Other practical questions include ‘how can I pay my bills online?’ and ‘how do I do my shopping online’. We are planning to run sessions as a trial between two and four weeks every Wednesday from 25 September, we would be grateful for the offer of any support that can be provided. We also have a number of specific locations we are looking at to support this project: • Avenue Library • Crumpsall Library • Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project • Lalley Welcome Centre • North City Library • TLM Centre • Whitemoss Club. You will receive a full briefing, toolkits and free course and website signposting information from the Go ON team – all we need from you is your time and passion. Please let us know if you can support this vital piece of the Digital Manchester strategy to help residents improve their skills and access to the internet. If you would like to volunteer, or have any questions about this trial, please contact community@go-on-manchester
