God bless Mr. Governor on this position My defeat in Ekiti not due to stomach infrastructure – Fayemi July 17, 2014 • By pmnews ShareTweet+ 1Mail Nkrumah Bankong-Obi Ekiti state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has debunked insinuations that he lost the 21 June governorship election because of what analysts have called ‘stomach infrastructure’, saying the insinuations are the handiwork of people he described as “arm chair analysts.” OUR APPEAL; on 6th of July. Special Appeal to All Ekiti indigenes on the just concluded Election in Ekiti. Ekiti Leaders of Thoughts at its meeting held at City Park, Wuse 2 on Sunday 6th july, 2014 resolved to make a special appeal to all indigenes of Ekiti State to be rational and objective in their views, comments and criticisms of the just concluded election.. The meeting which was presided over by the 1st.Deputy President,Mr Adekunle Adeyemo resolved as follows; 1.As much as we recognise the inalienable rights of the aggrieved to protest, cry foul and even condemn the process, which not a few believe was free and fair,we believe must be done with decorum and civility and not necessarily by denting the hard earned image of Ekitis by portraying them as hungry people. If we must complain of an electoral process, let us be careful not to insult the sensibilities of our people. The reality is that there were inducements from all quarters but the people still voted their conscience. Constant repetition of the inglorious infrastructure of the stomach is a fallacy and did not in any way influence the outcome of the election. Asking the people shun these inducements would had been a fruitless and impossible task for reasons known to us all. This is the sorry state of our so-called democracy and is not in any way peculiar to Ekiti State. 2. The Council of Ekiti Leaders of Thoughts frown at the manner with which we address our leaders, most especially the incumbent Governor and The Governor- Elect. Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Dr. Ayodele Fayose. They are great citizens and torch bearers of Ekiti and we must accord them their deserved honour and respect, regardless of our political differences. 3. We have observed that this problem arises mostly from overzealous appointees, supporters and sympathisers of the major interest groups who in their quest to defend their principals most times throw caution to the winds, by insulting these personalities ceaselessly. This we believe is in bad taste as it is the development of our dear Ekiti State that should be the major pre-occupation of all and sundry. 4. We equally appeal to all Ekiti intellectuals, scholars and writers to use their access to electronic and print media, internet and other social network facilities to launder the image of Ekiti State positively and stop insulting our leaders, let us cultivate the good habit of waking up early in the morning to say GOD BLESS EKITI STATE Ure Ekiti a soju kete ra o.
