God bless you IGP for your being neutrally realistic. Tambuwal shouldnt be recognised any more as Speaker, meanwhile those trying to enter NASS with him on that faithful day are suspected hoodlums at least we saw that in their dispositions that very day. The impasse between the Police Force the Legislature took a new dimension on Wednesday as the Inspector General of Police, Abba Sulaiman insisted that he does not recognize Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, on Wednesday afternoon engaged the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Suleiman Abba in a heated argument over last Thursday’s security siege on the National Assembly. The committee had summoned Abba to explain the circumstances that led some of his men to prevent Former Speaker Aminu Tambuwal from gaining access into the parliament building and in the process harassed the Speaker as well as other lawmakers. The meeting was however ill- fated. It ended abruptly because he blatantly refused to acknowledge Tambuwal as Speaker in his speech, drawing the ire of members of the Committee. That was not all. He described the lawmakers that climbed the gate to assess the complex on the 20th of November as ” suspected hoodlums” and blamed the security beef-up at the National Assembly on that day on the Salvation Rally by All People Congress a day before that. Abbah said because of the suspected hoodlums that followed “Alhaji Tambuwal,” into the complex of the NASS, a tear gas canister ” exploded” and that the incident is being investigated. The Chairman of the committee and members insisted that Abbah recognize Tambuwal as Speaker, but the IGP said he would not as the case was in court and addressing Tambuwal as “Speaker” would be “subjudice.” The meeting ended on a frosty note. The IGP left without the courtesy of the Chairman seeing him off. This was because members of the committee insisted the Chairman Usman Kumo would not. The session got heated as the lawmakers took turn to rebuff the IGP
