Gods Birthday Gift On the eve of his 15th birthday, Skyler - TopicsExpress

Gods Birthday Gift On the eve of his 15th birthday, Skyler received what would be Gods most precious gift for him. He run for class President in the whole freshman year and won. There were three original contenders vying for the spot. One female and two males including himself. The electronic results revealed a run-off which meant another election would have to be held, this time with the female candidate eliminated. It was a rather tight race. Two young males competing for the presidential spot. I remember the other contender with great confidence as he spoke during the election day. Skyler, on the other hand, delivered what I would call a speech of leadership full of truthfulness, pain, sacrifice, and stories from his childhood that made him what he was today. My son was born on the 1st of October, the day of the feast of my patron saint, St. Thérèse of Lisieux. I made sure I would give birth to him in America no matter what the cost. A big gratitude to my cousins Rod and Merlie Cabral who offered me their home. Ever since Skyler was conceived in my womb, a great deal of sacrifice has already begun. Spending my last trimester of my pregnancy without Jude was not easy. But dreams of a better future are enough for me to hang on and pursue. In his election speech, Skyler explained how he in his early years already endured pain as his younger brother Zach would hit him leaving permanent scars on his skin. Later on, this plight would be the catalyst for him to understand how people in need behave the way they do and how it dawned on him to help them and how, too, it greatly meant to feel needed. As I watched my son walk up the stage in front of over 200 freshman students of the prestigious Bellarmine Preparatory High School and their teachers, clad in a sharp suit appearing both scholastic and funny to his peers as he would inject humor in his painstakingly-prepared speech, I knew that the baby in my womb that I had fought hard for a better future is slowly becoming the young man God wanted to be. Jude and I remember fondly how we enjoyed being class presidents in our high school years. But seeing our own son be the leader in his own right makes us feel very humble and also very proud. I thank God for the gift of life, wisdom, humility, leadership, and most of all, pain. For through pain, something bigger and brighter always come about. Happy birthday, Sky. And we hope that with you, only SKY is the limit. ~~TZV (Pictures taken on the 26th of September, 2014 at Bellarmine Theater. Photos taken by Jett Apostol and video by Jeft Apostol.
