God’s Battle, Not Yours — 2 Chronicles 20:3;15 NKJV John - TopicsExpress

God’s Battle, Not Yours — 2 Chronicles 20:3;15 NKJV John Paton was a missionary in the New Hebrides Islands. One night, hostile natives surrounded the mission station, intent on burning out the Patons and killing them. Paton and his wife prayed during that terror-filled night, that God would deliver them. When daylight came they were amazed to see their attackers leave. A year later, the chief of the tribe was converted to Christ. Remembering what had happened, Paton asked the chief what had kept him from burning down the house and killing them. The chief replied, in surprise, Who were all those men with you there? Paton knew no men were present--but the chief said he was afraid to attack because he had seen hundreds of big men in shining garments with drawn swords circling the mission station. Paton’s troubling circumstances and trust in the Lord is reminiscent of Jehosphaphat’s struggle. After finding out that Judah was going to be attacked by multiple enemies, Jehosphaphat sought the Lord in midst of his fear. As king, he proclaimed a national fast signifying the nation’s trust in the Lord. God answered by telling Jehosphaphat, and the people, that this battle was not theirs but His! Now don’t miss that, as the people threw their prayers and fasting toward Heaven, God answered by telling them that their battle was His battle. Even though you don’t see it, God is protecting you. There are, no doubt, angels encamped all around your home and family as you read this devotional. Your job is to keep being diligent and wise about your life. Faith is not an excuse to be foolish. Rather, it is a reminder to do your part; which is to seek God and act upon His counsel. This includes trusting in Him for your battles. So stop wearing yourself out by fighting your battles alone. Remember, the same way He protected John Paton & Judah, will be the same way He will protect you because the battle belongs to the Lord for those that put their trust in Him.
