“God’s Power In His Work” Exo 3:12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. The assurance of who is with us in the work of God is so comforting and helpful. We have it so much better in the times in which we live because we have been taught by the Holy Spirit of God and now He lives within us. Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Moses had God conversing with him and showing him what He wanted done. To lead the two plus million Jews out of the wilderness into the promised land would be a huge task. It would take the power of God at work in Moses to accomplish the work that God had called him to. “Certainly I will be with thee”, is what God said to Moses. The promises of God are sure and whatever He said He would do, that is exactly what God is to do. With us in the N.T. local church, we have the promise in Matthew 28:20, “and, lo, I am with you alway, even to the end of the world.” Notice the ‘I AM in what God said to Moses, and in the N.T. what God has said to us, “I am with you.” Romans 8:31 tells us, “If God be for us, who can be against us.” Our confidence is not in ourselves for the task that God has appointed but it is God which worketh in us both to will and to do of his good pleasure. As couples raise their children, it is God that is at work. When a young man is called to preach and then to prepare for that calling, it is God that is at work. When a lady is called to teach a Sunday school class in the church, it is God that is at work. So it is God’s work and He is at work in His work through the people He invites to be involved with Him in His work. When pastors have the opportunity to lead God’s church, it is God that is at work. God never sleeps or slumbers but is at work in His work! It is so great to be active in His work and see what He does in the lives of those that know it is indeed Him working out His will and bringing glory to Himself. So when we get bogged down and think that His work is about us, we must go back to the Bible and know the truth – it is God that is at work in His work. This keeps self out of the way and God using us in the way.
