Going To The Masjid In Tthe Dark The Messenger of Allah (سيدنا محمد ﺻﻠﯽ الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ ﻋﻠﯿﮧ ﻭﺍٓﻟﮧ وصحبه ﻭﺳﻠﻢ) said: “Give glad tidings of perfect light on the Day of Resurrection to those who walk in the dark to the Masjid.” [Abu Dawud] This is great news to those who wake up at night, leave the comfort of sleep and the softness of their beds, recite the Adhan after the Muadhdhin and then walk to the Masjid in calmness, during the coldness of the night and in total darkness. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will record the steps they take to the Masjid and Allah willing they are worthy of the glad tidings that the Prophet (سيدنا محمد ﺻﻠﯽ الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ ﻋﻠﯿﮧ ﻭﺍٓﻟﮧ وصحبه ﻭﺳﻠﻢ) has conveyed. Therefore, neither let Shaitaan overcome you with sleep nor hesitate to wake up for the prayer. Wake up and rush to Paradise prepared for the pious, as wide as the heavens and the earth. In it there is of delights what no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard and no heart has ever imagined. May Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) bring you to this destination and make Paradise your final dwelling. Ameen.
