My partner spoke with the doctor assigned to our son; she referred to his stay as a respite. I dont care to go into it all. It looks like our insurance is just going to push us through there as soon as possible. We meet with the Dr. on Monday morning for her full report. Based on the phone call, my hopes have deflated. I told the intake nurse last night- no, BEGGED the intake nurse- not to leave us flapping in the wind when they discharge us. If we were lower income (were certainly not high income), we would qualify for comprehensive wrap around services. We do not. We qualify for the craptastic insurance that we pay for and whatever shitty providers they contract with. But if we need a plan and someone to help us figure out what the fireman needs and where to go to get those needs met? Well, were on our own. Guess who didnt go to college to be a doctor? Or to study special education? Or to work with children on the spectrum? Im smart, but this isnt my forte. I dont know how to help my baby. I need guidance and support and services and specialists. Not a system that does more harm than good. You guys, in January he was hospitalized and was supposed to go into residential treatment. Our insurance denied it the day he was discharged. He came home with us without a plan. NO PLAN AT ALL. No shock that he is back there 8 months later. Weve done all that we can but were only human. I can already see them laying the groundwork for making this about our parenting. We want a full psych eval and they are talking about having Catholic Services come into our home to help us learn to work with him. I love my son more than anything in the world. He is falling through the damn cracks. I am too tired to be his endless advocate. You say that Im strong. Ive been strong for too long. Im broken now. He needs better than a broken me. But Im afraid that Im the best that hes going to get. I dont know how to do this.
