Going on a rant.....(I realize these are first-world problems, just let me get it out) On the phone for 1/2 an hour yesterday, listening to pre-recorded after pre-recorded message just to try to tell someone at express scripts that they, for some reason, just dropped two of my auto-refill scrips. They corrected the situation, but they dont know why it happened. Spent most of my sons break on the phone trying to find a doctor for him, explaining to each one that we had been trying since SEPT., only to get absolutely serious responses like OK, we can see him NEXT SEPT! At my last doc appt, it was suggested that I see two other specialists and just let us know, WE will make the appt. for you. Although, I would love to believe that is because they are kind and caring, I know it is really because they want to filter me to another physician in their group, limiting my control over who I see. My sister accompanied her husband to a doc and experienced something I know all too well, which is when a second-party tries to ask the doc a question, and he answers to the patient, effectively sending the message that she was an intrusion in the room, when in fact, her husband asked her to be there. When did yearlys become 6-monthlys? And, after getting a doc for my son, finally, getting him there over break, being told they dont accept the pre-paid VISA we have to use because our deductible is so high now, leaving me to write a personal check for $150 and having to get it reimbursed after taxes, (for those of you who might encounter this problem, sometimes you can get actual checks to write against that pre-paid card, but we never thought we would need them) I took his script to the pharmacy, I asked them if they had his medication in stock (they did), when we went to pick it up an hour later (he was leaving for Pitts the next morning) we were told our insurance would not cover it and MAYBE we could call the doc on Monday and have another brand recommended. That is a little less than convenient when we have to DRIVE it back to Pitts. AND, upon my daughter finding the bottle of insulin she had in reserve was actually non-existant, I call the pharmacy 1 block away in a complete panic because she has gone all night and is vomiting, to tell them we need insulin RIGHT NOW, the response I get is it will be ready in an hour! I miss the days where we knew our doc. He asked us how we were. He gave us a prescription, knowing our insurance would cover it, and we took it to the pharmacy and got it filled. Life was so simple then....sigh
