Going to be in Tacoma? Check out Art Chantrys work at the Tacoma Art Museum. Hes part of a special exhibit, Ink This! Contemporary Print Arts in the Northwest. Worth a special trip! Heres what he says (copied from his own post): this is a sample of my poster (a collaboration with Beautiful Angle) hanging at a show at the Tacoma Art Museum. its a northwest/tacoma printmakers exhibit. beautiful angle is lance kagey and tom llewelyn (tom was the one who actually wrote that line the thing so poetic about tacoma is that there is nothing poetic about it. brilliant, huh?) lance did the printing and supplied all the letterpress cuts and type to work with and then helped me set it up for printing. its peppered with old logos and ads from tacomas history that lance had a cool collection of. i managed to miss the opening last night, but im really thrilled to be in the show. its so strange, ive had one man retrospective exhibits in the seattle art museum, the museum of modern art/PS1, and in galleries and museums all over the world. my work is in the collections of MOMA, the smithsonian, the library of congress and even the rock and roll hall of fame. ive won a bronze lion at cannes and even have one of my pieces hang in The Louvre for a spell. yet, this is the very first time ive ever had a piece hang in my hometown Tacoma Art Museum. im deeply flattered and more than a little happy. THANKS BEAUTIFUL ANGLE (!), for letting me piggy-back with you guys into the TAM!!!
