Going to church or trying to be a good person wont fix your life. Jeremiah 29:13 and ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Many people wonder why things are so difficult for them. They wonder why things seem so easy for others while their lives seem to be in constant upheaval and turmoil. Their life is chaos. Their children are breaking their hearts with continually bad decisions. Their spouse seems distant and/or troubled. Work seems like drama central and the employer seems not to care. Society is in a mess and the national economy is turned upside down. There is constant craziness going on at home, school, work, and in the community. Everything would just be better if we all went to church more often wouldn’t it? If we all started being nicer to each other and got out of each other’s business things should improve, right? God told Jeremiah that if Israel wanted liberty and peace it had to do one thing. That one thing was to seek after God with all of their heart. Putting God in the place of prominence in your life is the only thing that will give you liberty and TRUE peace. When you accept Christ as your own personal Savior and commit to live a life that honors Him through loving obedience you will start to see many of the things you desire for your life. This does not mean God will give you a sweet, perfect, kumbaya little life. What it does mean is that when the storms do come (and they will in full force at times) you will have peace knowing your Heavenly Father, the creator and lord of storms, is in control. When you face temptations (and they will be almost overwhelming), your Redeemer will give you strength to overcome them or a place of refuge to rest until the draw is gone. When you face situations that are way too large and powerful for you to face alone (God does put more on you than you can bear), your Almighty King will fight by your side providing endurance, strength, knowledge, and courage. Going to church or turning over a new leaf or having a positive attitude will not fix what is wrong in your life nor the life of the people you love. Setting God as number one in your life and seeking Him with your whole heart, mind, spirit and strength is the only way to have liberty and peace.
