Good Afternoon All....... A partly cloudy day around Townsville with you even thinking that we may get a nice drop or two but alas not to be although it does gives the chance for things to dry out a bit but I have noticed that the mosquitos are now coming in thick and fast. So please check around your home and tip out anything that is holding water so we can try to prevent those blood sucking little critters spreading their nasty diseases and always helps to slap on a little insect repellent daily................ Below is your forecast for tomorrow. _____________________________________________________ This is the Official Forecast for Tuesday 25th of February 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. _____________________________________________________ Weather Situation A surface trough over the west of the state will remain slow moving through much of the week. An upper trough will approach the southwest of the state midweek, and should interact with the humid, tropical airmass over the west of the state to produce scattered showers and thunderstorms, spreading to rain areas at times. A high in the Tasman Sea maintains a ridge along the east coast of Queensland that will weaken over the next few days as the high moves southeastwards towards New Zealand. Forecast for the rest of Monday Isolated showers about the east coast and nearby inland. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms through the remaining tropics and western areas of the state. Mostly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds in the west. Moderate westerly winds in the far north. Moderate east to southeast winds elsewhere, fresh about the central coast. Tuesday 25 February Isolated showers about much of the east coast and adjacent inland. Shower and thunderstorm activity will remain focused over the northern tropics, and through the far west of the state where some local heavy falls are possible. Fine and mostly sunny conditions are expected elsewhere. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds along the east coast, light to moderate east to northeasterly winds elsewhere. Wednesday 26 February The high in the Tasman Sea will shift east of New Zealand, leading to a weakening of the onshore flow along the east coast. An upper trough will enter the far southwest of the state during the day. Shower and thunderstorm activity should remain in place over the northern tropics and through the west of the state, west of about Longreach and into the southern inland west of about Charleville; this activity will likely become widespread and tend to rain at times with some heavy falls through the southwest of the state in response to the approaching upper trough. Maximum temperatures will be suppressed under the cloudy conditions in west and southwest. Isolated shower activity will continue about the east coast in the onshore wind flow. Fine and mostly sunny conditions are expected elsewhere. Thursday 27 February The next high will push into the Great Australian Bight whilst the ridge along the east coast of Queensland will remain weak. Isolated showers will occur about the east coast in the onshore wind flow. The upper trough will remain slow moving over the southwest of the state. Showers and storms will persist about the north and west of the state, and should spread into the southern interior. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to be widespread through the Channel Country with some locally heavy falls. Maximum temperatures will be suppressed under the cloudy conditions in west and southwest. Fine and mostly sunny conditions elsewhere. ____________________________________________________ Forecast for the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands - Partly cloudy. Isolated showers near the coast.
