Good Afternoon Facebook friends ! As most of you know I coach volleyball at Fall River High School. I have been there a few years, and other places before that and one of the things I have done each year with all of my teams is a service project of some sort. In recent years they have usually been some sort of fundraiser for a specific cancer, we have done orange (leukemia), purple (lymphoma) and lots and lots of pink! This year we are Blocking out Hunger At our match against Dodgeland tomorrow night (September 30) at Fall River High School we will be collecting food donations for the local food pantry. HOWEVER, we are not just collecting food - the food items you bring work like money - we are raffling off a ball (one signed by each team) some sweatshirts (again for each team) and a Bench Pass the winner of that Raffle gets to sit on our bench for the Varsity match!!! For every food item you donate you may enter your name into a raffle - one name for every item! BUT dont use up all your food items, because right before the varsity match, anyone who has a food item to donate will have an opportunity to serve a volleyball at prizes on the other side of the net! Because of time constraints we may be only able to allow one serve per person, we will see what the participation looks like! We are really excited about this project and we hope everyone shows up with a bag full of food!! On a side note, the food pantry says they have plenty of canned vegetables - so lean toward, soup, fruit, hamburger helper, tuna, cereal - you get the idea! I hope to see a lot of you there!!!!
