Good Afternoon Folks........ What a difference a day makes and youd be forgiven in thinking that it was the middle of summer instead of the middle of spring...... Was rather a warm one with the mercury creeping over 30C today. The rest of the week will see the temp stay in the low 30C but our overnight temp will be lower than last night at 19C..............Currently its 26.8C with the humidity at 75%. Below is your forecast for tomorrow.............................................. ______________________________________________________ This is the Official Forecast for Wednesday 15th of October 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. ____________________________________________________ Weather Situation A trough will contract east off the southern Queensland coast this evening and off the central and southern tropical coasts late tonight. A high over southern Australia will then extend a cool, dry airmass through much of the state during the next few days. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Some showers and possible thunderstorms near the coast between about Mackay and Fraser Island, clearing this evening. Showers and thunderstorms through the far northern tropics, decreasing during the evening. Fine and clear elsewhere. Moderate to fresh northwest to northeasterly winds along the east coast, tending southwesterly south of Yeppoon during the evening. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds elsewhere. Wednesday 15 October Showers and possible thunderstorms over the Peninsula, mostly during the afternoon. Fine, dry and cool elsewhere. Possible early frost on the Granite Belt. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, with afternoon sea breezes near the coast. Fire Danger - Very High over much of the northern interior. Thursday 16 October The high will shift slowly eastwards towards Tasmania, maintaining the ridge and dry airmass through much of Queensland. Some showers and thunderstorms are possible over the Peninsula where the moisture remains, particularly during the afternoon. Fine and sunny conditions will continue across the remainder of the state, with possible early frost again on the Granite Belt. Friday 17 October The high will move east into the Tasman Sea, strengthening the ridge along the east Queensland coast. A weak upper trough will combine with a moist onshore flow to produce some showers along the southern coast, possibly extending west to the Great Dividing Range late in the day. Moisture will decrease in the far north of the state with just the slight chance of showers about the Peninsula. Fine and sunny conditions will persist through the interior. Saturday 18 October The high will remain slow moving in the Tasman Sea, extending a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. Moist onshore winds should produce some showers near the east Queensland coast. The interior of the state will remain fine and sunny. ___________________________________________________ Forecast for the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands - Sunny morning. The chance of a thunderstorm in the far north in the afternoon. Light winds becoming east to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the evening.
