Good Afternoon Hudson Valley, Alex and I have been talking through - TopicsExpress

Good Afternoon Hudson Valley, Alex and I have been talking through out the day, and we wanted to give you a quick update on the afternoons severe weather threat. Ive posted a detailed timeline on what you can expect over the next 12 hours, up on the website... so check that out as well: hudsonvalleyweather/afternoon-update-t-storm-timeline/ The radar remains quiet as of 3pm... despite the afternoon sunshine, warm temps and high humidity. The morning showers and thundershowers did us a favor by stabilizing the upper levels of the atmosphere a bit. That stability should be enough to get us into the early evening before storms begin to fire up. So while the majority of the area looks quiet and dry thru at least 6pm, that doesnt mean you should completely let your guard down. All it takes is for the ingredients to come together over one location, and a strong to severe storm cell could pop up.. and those storms could contain damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning and small hail. After 6pm, a few more scattered thunderstorms could develop. If they occur early enough, one or two could become severe, but the later we get in the evening, the lower the severe threat. Again, not everyone sees a storm between 6pm and midnight, but the chance begins to rise. The real threat at showers and thunderstorms pick up after midnight, but well have more updates on this as we move thru the evening. Hope youre enjoying your Sunday afternoon, Alex and I will have more updates as necessary this evening. -Bill-
