Good Evening Postgrads! Yesterday the new KPA Committee took office. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Lisa, Ian, and the rest of the 2013 - 2014 team for the excellent hard work they’ve put into the Association over the past year. They’ve continued to build our organisation within the university and this is something I’m very keen to continue. I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to represent postgraduate students at Keele for next twelve months and I have a fantastic team helping me. We’re here as a conduit between the postgraduate student body and the university; we’re your voice (so use us!). Rob Williams, Association Finance Secretary and previously our very active Activities Officer, started his role a little earlier and has been working tirelessly to put together a fantastic events programme and budget. Trevor, our new Association Secretary, has been focusing on administrative matters, ensuring that all of our meetings are well organised and recorded, and that our website is kept up to date. Dan, our Student Trustee, has already been in his role for a year and we will undoubtedly benefit from his experience and expertise. We also have the fantastic Stella Adiaba acting as our International Officer until September. As we settle into our roles we will be working together with students to develop a strategy relating to how you want your Association to work. Our big drive this year is getting people involved; we want your input as to how we can support you in your studies and make your spare time more enjoyable. We’re also here to help you in times of need; if, for whatever reason, you need assistance with academic issues, or wish to bring up concerns relating to anything to do with your Keele experience we encourage you to contact us – that’s what we’re here for. When I’m not in meetings or out and about I can usually be found in the sabbatical office of the Students’ Union, and you can always send an e-mail to this address or give me a call on 01782 734227.
