Good Friday Morning Measuring Success How do you measure success? But before we can measure it, we need to define it. Success for many means having enough money to keep up with the latest trends in technology, fashion, automobiles, or the like. To others, success is defined as overcoming or accomplishing goals that they have set for themselves, or managing relationships, or just being able to be considered as ordinary or in some cases extraordinary. Success is simply a judgment, and too often we base our assessment of our own success on the opinions of others. Having consideration for the opinion of others is not a bad thing, as a matter of fact it is the foundation for the Golden Rule. But too often, we let the opinions of others sway us from doing the things we feel are best for us. Or we let others opinions deter us from accomplishing things that will set us apart from our circle of friends. Recognition and accolades are one way we measure success. But again, we have placed value in someone else validating our efforts. The fact is we are all successful in our own rights. True success has nothing to do with the opinions of others, or the awards we receive, or the amount of money we are able to accumulate. True success has everything to do with how you feel about yourself. If you see yourself as being successful in a venture and the outcome is one that you desire, you will be successful. However, if you see the outcome of success as bringing on unwanted attention, or placing you in an uncomfortable situation, or even alienating you from your friends, you may abandon your efforts and accept the status quo. You have already successfully navigated the rigors of life to get to where you are now, and you will successfully maneuver your way to the place in life you value most. What do you think? Share this if you like it. But most of all have a wonderful weekend.
