Good Morning Belleau Wood, Tooday, Capt. George W. Hamilton. USMC, CO. 49th Co. and 1st Bn, 5th Marines. Awarded the Army DSC, (2nd award) and the Navy Cross for actions at Hill 142 on June 6th, 1918. Participted in all of the major engagements of the 4th Brigade (Marine) during the war and was made famous by the painting by F.C. Yahn in entitled - The Last Night of the War. Capt. Hamilton went on to be a USMC Aviator after the war and was killed in a flying mishap during the 4th MB maneuvers at Gettysburg, PA on June 26th, 1922.
