Good Morning FB friends....it is Friday morning and i am soooo ready for the weekend. It seems like this was such a long work week for me. And, not long to wait to see the Mountaineers play Maryland. The game is at noon on Saturday and I hear a lot of local fans are making the trip to Maryland to root on the Mountaineers to victory. I have a good feeling about this game. I think Trickett is the real deal just like Staten was last year in basketball, and I think our Mountaineers will put on a show that will make Mountaineers across the state proud. I will be at Deep Creek Lake and although it is in Maryland, I can tell you that most of the local folks who live in Garrett County are for the Mountaineers which is one of the things they share in common with me....their biggest difference, well, most of them are conservative Republicans, but that is okay because although most of the folks in Hardy County are Democrats, they are conservative and lean Republican so I guess I am use to it. Heritage Weekend is just around the corner. The Mullin Hotel will be open and there will be an Artist there selling his prints of the McNeills Rangers. The Historical Society will be selling tickets to the Shrimp Boil scheduled for Saturday October 11th from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm and it will be held at the Mullin Hotel patio weather permitting with live music. We ordered wine glasses etched with a picture of the Mullin Hotel and date on the side. The stem and picture are green. It is a collectors item and will be sold for $5.00 per wine glass. Quite a bargain. We will likely have the glasses for sale during Heritage Weekend at the hotel and also at the Shrimp Boil. The Shrimp Boil was a huge success last year and I encourage you to buy tickets and attend. You are supporting a good cause and attending a nice social event in Moorefield. If such events are successful you will see more events during the year. I am doing a Walking Tour of old downtown Moorefield for Heritage Weekend that is sponsored by the Hardy County Historical Society. The tour will be from 10 to 12 noon on Saturday of Heritage weekend and I will start at the stoplight. Some of you might recall that we did a tour of Moorefield on FB and discussed each of the old buildings on Main Street and some of you participated and gave your thoughts and memories of the commercial buildings that use to stand and still stand. The Historical Society board meets this Monday, September 15th to prepare for the upcoming Shrimp Boil and discuss Heritage Weekend.
