Good Morning FB friends......it is Monday morning and the first day of deer season and a warm start.....warmer than normal this time of year.....it is suppose to get up to 71 degrees today. I am not hunting. I am working today through Wednesday, but it should be a slow week for me before Thanksgi ving. It was not a slow start for WV yesterday evening. WV beat Connecticut in basketball and won the Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament using full court pressure defense that caused about 20 turnovers. WV led the game from the beginning and throughout the game.....something that in the past has been unusual for recent WV teams. Huggins has said he likes this team and I can see why now. The beginning of the season looked like it was going to be a long season but now I am excited about this team and I am glad I have season tickets. WV returns from Puerto Rico and goes straight to Charleston to play VMI at 7:30 pm on ROOT. Being it is a holiday week here in WV, I do not know if the contractors will work on the RDA parking lot any this week. The set up is completed and the only thing left to do is put the pavers in the ground, and it looks like about a third of the pavers have been put in place. Even if work is not done this week, the contractors have a full week to complete the work before our Community Christmas Tree lighting on Saturday December 6th, and the lot does not have to be completed to put the tree in place and have our ceremony and lighting. The contractors have installed a pipe in the ground to be used specifically for placement of the tree so it will be easy to set up the tree this year and not have to worry about the wind blowing it over like happened last year. We saved a bunch of the Christmas ornaments from last year and have the Christmas lights, but we encourage you to make new ornaments to place on the tree with tributes. The whole point of it being a Community Christmas tree is the fact that the community comes together and decorates the tree. The tree will be set up likely on Friday, December 5th and it will be decorated and ready to light by the morning of December 6th. The parade starts at 4:00 pm and starts at the Town Park and comes to the Christmas Tree where the ceremony will start at 5:00 pm with a number of local talented singers singing Christmas songs and then Santa Claus will arrive at 6:00 pm and light the tree and then there will be a free Christmas party at the Mullin Hotel and free Christmas gifts for the children and then at 7:30 pm a free Christmas Magic Show for the children at McCoys Theatre.
