Good Morning. In Mark 13 Jesus provides very useful information regarding the signs that would foretell that His coming is soon. Towards the end of the chapter He gives some very useful information regarding that action that we would take in anticipation of His second coming. In verse 35 Jesus said, “Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:” The Strong’s Concordance defines the original Greek word for “watch” as “1. Use as a metaphor it means - give strict attention to, be cautious, active; 2. to take heed lest through remission and indolence some destructive calamity suddenly overtake one. “ The Noah Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines the word watch as “To be attentive; to be vigilant in preparation for an event or trial, the time of whose arrival is uncertain.” So prior to the second coming of Jesus we must pay careful attention to the things that are having around us. We must be looking out for the signs that Jesus stated would precede His second coming. Now is not the time for us to be idling and sleeping. During thos period of Earth’s history we need to be trimming our lambs and preparing for the second coming of Jesus. Our time should be spent on developing a closer relationship with the Lord. We should be fleeing the very appearance of evil and allowing the Holy Spirit to take full control of every single area of our lives. While we are occupying for our Master’s appearance we cannot afford to not have sufficient oil in our lamps. I pray that we will take seriously the fact that the second coming of Jesus is soon. Many of the signs have come to pass already. Sis White reminds us that the final moment shall be rapid ones. Let us continue to prepare ourselves for the soon return of our Lord and Saviour.
