Good Morning! Just wanted to share these that I bought from a box - TopicsExpress

Good Morning! Just wanted to share these that I bought from a box of old cards on a market stall recently. The box contained various cards and pieces of paper and the stall holder was charging 50p per item. I was fascinated by all the gorgeous vintage birthday cards and I would have loved to have had a longer look but I had my very impatient two year old with me. There were lots of childrens birthday cards but I bought the age six cards as it was coming up to my daughters 6th birthday. I bought the cute little postcard too and an amazing printed Victory letter from 1946. It was only when I got home and looked at everything properly that I realised they were all to Jack... and then I recalled that all the birthday cards in the box were boys cards. That box contained all Jacks childhood memorabilia, all from the 1940s. I suspect Jack had died... why else would all your childhood souvenirs end up on a market stall? Made me feel a little sad that Id been rooting through his stuff... a box of someones childhood memories for sale on a market stall for 50 pence a piece... But then I started thinking...all the lovely cards with the kind messages inside made me imagine that Jack must have had lots of friends, and also the fact that he kept them suggested he had fond memories of those times. I guess bits of paper can be sold on a market stall for 50p, but happy, lifelong memories are truly priceless. x x
