Instability will increase yet again from Tuesday however as a series of troughs move through central and southern Queensland. A slight to medium chance of showers and storms through the tropics north and west of about Cooktown, including the Gulf of Carpentaria coast. The slight chance of showers over the remaining east coast, more likely north of about Townsville. Some showers and a possible storm or two over the Granite Belt and southeastern Darling Downs in the afternoon. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds along the east coast. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds elsewhere, fresh at times in the west during the morning. Fire Danger - Very High over the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district. ----------------------------------------------- Australian Synoptic Chart Summary ----------------------------------------------- A trough over the east will direct heat over inland SA, NSW, QLD and the interior, while triggering thundery showers over the nations southeast. Another trough will cause showers and storms over the NT and WA.
