Good Morning, Today Is Sunday July 13th, 2014 Time: 09:30 Hrs. PDT HEADLINE: Japan Govt Defers Removal Of Evacuation Advisory In Kawauchi Transcript: Kawauchi, Fukushima Pref. The Japanese government on Sunday postponed its planned lifting of an evacuation advisory in the Fukushima Prefecture village of Kawauchi near a nuclear power plant crippled by the March 2011 disaster. The government held consultations with residents of eastern part of the village in the northeastern Japan prefecture and proposed lifting the advisory on July 26 because of a fall in radiation levels. But the residents expressed cautious views on the government proposal. After meeting with the residents, Takashi Kumagai, an official of the Reconstruction Agency, said that the agency wants to determine the appropriate timing after holding sufficient discussions with the village. The place within a 20-kilometer radius of the Tokyo Electric Power Co. Fukushima No. 1 plant is classified as an area where evacuees are advised to prepare for the removal of the advisory and that where residency is restricted. Some evacuees began long stay in their homes in April to prepare for a permanent return after the completion of decontamination work by the central government.
